Brief History:

Barangay Lagundi got its name from the tree called Lagundi tree because according to our ancestors, Lagundi tree is a common tree in this barangay.

As of July 2016, the population of the barangay is ranging from 9,086 to 9,665. The total land area of the barangay is 1,176 hectares. Barangay Lagundi is located three (3) kilometers more or less from the town proper and is bounded by Barangay Pinugay, Baras, Rizal (north), Barangay San Salvador, Baras, Rizal (east), Barangay C.C.L. (south), and Barangay C.C.L. and Barangay Maybancal (west). There are 4 sitios that comprises the barangay namely Sitio Libis, Sitio Tabing-Ilog, Sitio Pulong Kumunoy, Sitio Pugala, and Sito Yapak. The main sources of income of the barangay are employment, farming, fishing, and garment factory. People’s means of transportation are tricycles and jeepneys. The livelihoods in this barangay are fruit stand, small eatery, street fish vendor, and tailoring. There are four schools (4) that can be found in Barangay Lagundi namely Pulong Kumunoy Elementary School, Lagundi Elementary School, Yapak Elementary School and Lagundi-CCL. The five most common religions are Roman Catholic, Aglipayan, Church of Christ (33 AD), Iglesia ni Cristo and First Door of Faith Church.
